Free Schools: the way education should be

After four days of feasting on good food and digesting some new ideas at the Tatamagouche Free School in Nova Scotia, I am totally sold(?) on the concept of Free Schools. They are starting to pop up across the country – now offered through the Falls Brook Centre in New Brunswick, in Vancouver, and even in Ontario (I think Guelph is following a more ongoing free school model) .

  1. Outdoor workshops: I love it! Was your session well received?

  2. There is/was this: http://www.anarchistu.org/Anarchistu/WebHome in toronto. A friend of mine ran courses a few years ago. Although he seemed to like doing it, one of his criticisms was students didn’t seem to take it that seriously since they hadn’t invested anything into it. I think it’s a great concept but might only really work with those are motivated by the intrinsic value of learning.
